Our Athens-Limestone CEO class had the opportunity to visit Isom’s Orchard and meet with Mr. Kent Isom! We enjoyed touring the orchard and learning about a family business with a rich history spanning 75 years.

Mr. Isom shared his experiences in agritourism and gave students a glimpse into what it takes to operate and grow a business in this unique industry. This visit provided a great opportunity for students to expand their understanding of entrepreneurship and explore how entrepreneurial skills can be applied across a variety of fields.

One fun fact we learned? One of Mr. Isom’s favorite things to grow is flowers! 🌸 Students also got to see the process of making apple cider and sample one of Isom’s Orchard’s delicious slushies—a sweet treat to top off our visit! 🍎

One piece of advice from Mr. Isom that really stood out was, “If you see an opportunity, take it.” A great reminder to be willing to step outside our comfort zones, take chances, and make the most of the opportunities that come our way.

We are so grateful to Mr. Isom for taking the time to welcome us, share his knowledge, and give our students a behind-the-scenes look at his business and its history. Experiences like these help our students see entrepreneurship in action and recognize opportunities all around them.
