Leadership & Personal Branding Breakfast | UAH College of Business
Athens-Limestone CEO students joined fellow young entrepreneurs from Madison and Morgan counties for a Leadership and Personal Branding Breakfast hosted by the UAH College of Business!
During the session, students explored the difference between inventors and entrepreneurs and learned an important lesson: Entrepreneurship isn’t just about building something amazing—it’s about building something amazing that people want to buy! Understanding the market, listening to potential customers, and recognizing their needs are essential to turning an idea into a successful business.
Students heard from Dr. Valentina Iscaro, Associate Professor of Management and Entrepreneurship at UAH who shared five essential skills entrepreneurs should continually develop: resilience, opportunity recognition, creativity, self-leadership, and communication. These skills help entrepreneurs identify possibilities, adapt to challenges, and bring their ideas to life.
Students took a deeper look at opportunity recognition, learning that it’s a skill that must be practiced and continually sharpened. Successful entrepreneurs recognize what people need and find ways to meet those needs by building on existing ideas, improving what’s already available, and creating something even better.
Next, our group heard from Joshua Price, a former Madison County CEO student who is now enrolled at UAH and serves on several student committees on campus. Joshua encouraged students to approach every opportunity with purpose and give their best effort in whatever comes next. One message that especially resonated with the group was:
“Wherever you go next, give it your all.”
We’re grateful to Dr. Valentina Iscaro and Joshua Price from the UAH College of Business for sharing their knowledge and helping our Athens-Limestone CEO students continue developing the skills, confidence, and entrepreneurial mindset needed for success!
